Consultant-led care in London
Specialist consultations
A specialist consultation is an appointment with a consultant in one field rather than a general appointment — someone who sees your problem all week. You can book one here directly, without a GP referral and without a wait for a letter.
Because this is a diagnostic centre, the test and the consultation usually happen in the same building and often on the same day: ultrasound, X-ray and blood tests are on site. That is the difference between leaving with an answer and leaving with another appointment.
What happens at your appointment
The consultant takes a history and examines you where that is relevant, then explains what they think is happening and why. Nothing is rushed to a conclusion: where the answer needs a test, the test is arranged rather than guessed around.
Ultrasound, X-ray and blood tests are available at the clinic, so an investigation can often be done in the same visit and discussed before you leave. Where something is needed that this clinic does not hold, the consultant says so and arranges it.
You leave with a plan you have agreed — which may be treatment, a further test, a follow-up appointment, or the reassurance that nothing further is needed.

Our reviews — What our patients say
Every word below is a patient’s own, published on our Google listing.
Brilliant service from booking appt to having the scan and report. The sonographer was extremely knowledgable and had a great bedside manner. I went on 29/12 and I didn't catch the name of the lady but I have to say she answered all my questions thoroughly and honestly.
Dr Bhagat was exceptionally thorough and reassuring. He explained the X-ray and ultrasound results clearly, ruling out any serious concerns and recommending the best next steps. His calm and caring approach put us at ease throughout. Highly recommended.
Went for some diagnostic tests and was seen within hours of contact with Jose. The tests were completed quickly, with everything fully explained and a report provided within 24 hours. Extremely efficient and friendly service. Special thanks to Jose.
Superb service. I had an US for my soft tissue, very welcoming staff. The sonographer was thorough, friendly and accurate. I would chose this place again and highly recommended if you could choose to have your In-Health scans.
Extremely impressed with my scan appointment the sonographer explained clearly all parts of my scan which was most reassuring. The staff were all very knowledgeable and friendly , I can highly recommend the LDC.
I was able to get an appointment for an ultrasound scan within a few days for a reasonable cost and the service was very friendly and efficient and got the scan report back within a couple of hours.
huge thank you to Doctor Jawad Yahya from the bottom of my heart for being an amazing doctor. Thank you for referring me to Doctor Hossein Rostamipour (consultant psychiatrist) for ADHD assessment.
Excellent practice. Friendly, welcoming personnel and the venue is clean and modern. The radiologist was pleasant and explained everything clearly. Highly recommended.
Frequently Asked Questions
The questions people ask us most often before booking a specialist consultation.
Cannot see yours? Get in touch or call — we would rather answer it than have you guess.
Do I need a GP referral to see a specialist here?
No. You can book a specialist consultation directly. If you already have a referral letter, or letters and results from another clinician, bring them with you — they help, but nothing waits on them. If you intend to claim on private medical insurance, check your policy first, because some insurers do require a referral before they will cover a consultation.
What happens at a specialist consultation?
The consultant takes a history, examines you where that is relevant, and explains what they think is going on. Where a test would settle the question, ultrasound, X-ray and blood tests are available at the clinic and can often be done in the same visit. You leave with a plan you have agreed, and a written record where one is needed.
How long does an appointment last?
It depends on the specialty and on whether a test is done in the same visit. A first consultation is longer than a follow-up. When we call you back to arrange the appointment we will tell you how long to allow, so you are not working it out from a website.
Can I be seen without paying online?
Yes — that is how every appointment here works. You send a booking request or telephone the clinic, we ring back to agree a date and a time, and the fee is confirmed with you on that call. Nothing is booked and nothing is paid before you have spoken to someone.
Are specialist consultations covered by private health insurance?
Whether a consultation is covered depends on your policy rather than on the clinic, and some insurers ask for a referral letter or pre-authorisation first. Check both with your insurer before you book. Our paying with insurance page lists the insurers this clinic works with, and fees can also be settled privately.
Which specialties can I see a consultant in?
Psychiatry and mental health, fertility and IVF, sexual health and menopause, gynaecology, rheumatology, orthopaedics and paediatrics. Each has its own page on this site with the detail of what that consultant sees, and the appointments that can be requested online are listed with their prices on this page.
